My first ever week on the Island of Tenerife is coming to a close and I will be sad to go home. I chose the project as I am considering doing a Master’s degree in Marine Conservation.

"The highlight of my trip has been a boat trip in my third week during the “storm”, the sky was quite literally black, the visibility was constantly changing, and we were surrounded by bottlenose dolphins near the fish farms in Los Cristianos!"

Tenerife Whale and Dolphin conservation has seen a lot of firsts this week. Some volunteers here for a longer period had their first week, we’ve had our first presentation night and I went to the local Mexican restaurant for the first time.
"So far I’ve seen Pilot Whales and Bottlenose Dolphins which has been really breathtaking; when they get close to the boat you can see them incredibly clearly and they are so beautiful!"
Last week we headed out on the catamaran to try and get some pictures of Pilot whales and Bottlenose dolphins for the photo ID part of our project. We ended up coming across something we would've never expected!
