The longdrop. Everyone has stories to tell about the longdrop. Visits to the toilet on camp can require a bit of thought and preparation but squatting in the forest has its perks.

This week cyclone Enawo reached Madagascar bringing plenty of rain and wind to Nosy Be, which luckily was only on the fringes of the tropical storm and so was not hit as hard as other parts of the country.
At camp they call me the “bug-lady” because I love insects. I must admit I like that nickname...
On Frontier camp, the rainy season has well and truly set in and we have seen a rise in many species that we hadn't yet sighted around two months ago when I arrived on the Forest project.
When you are on a frontier project for a long time, you have a lot of people coming and going. Mostly it’s the volunteers but sometimes it happens with roommates as well. In this climate of change, there is however one constant: Nibbles.
