Some School Time  Fun

The school holidays have just finished in Fiji, and for the last week we were lucky to run a holiday programme in a local disabled school.

The programme was designed to engage kids with disabilities in a range of arty and creative projects. We wanted them to learn some new skills, to boost their self-esteem and enhance their communication skills and expression towards members of the public. The programme also gave their parents a few hours break during the holiday and of course they got to have a lot of fun with their friends!

Each day 10 – 15 young people aged from 6 – 20 years old came to school and did drawing, painting, baking and dancing. Highlights were making and decorating cupcakes, finger painting and dancing to the current hit ‘Mary mary mary’. Bright colours were a must and everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty.
