Preview into Jungle  Life

Today started like any other day in the jungle, being woken up by the howler monkeys at around 5am as they pass over the treetops above us. Everyone here says I will get used to them and sleep over it. It’s been 2 weeks now and I’m still getting woken up but to be honest with you it’s all a part of the jungle life and something I will truly miss.

Camp  Wildlife

I’ve had a wonderful week, started laying sand trap pits on two trails close to camp, and I will be setting my camera traps up very soon also. Also, there was a puma print on one of our trails close to camp two days ago!

Saturday at Camp  Osita

On Saturday morning a few of the volunteers went to visit a local bird sanctuary, owned and run by Patrick Dunn. The day started with a short bumpy ride on the collectivo, the local bus. Whilst getting off it turned out Patrick was going into town, but his wife, Rubyanne, was more than happy to welcome the group.

Curiosity Saved The  Cat

The wild cats of Costa Rica are some of the most elusive, and endangered species in the country. Deforestation, hunting and human-wildlife conflict has lead for these species to have lost a lot of their former range as well as a large deduction in numbers.
