Here in Belize we aren't afraid of hard work in the hot climate! Spending the weekdays working out on the reef and in the seagrass beds near to shore. It’s safe to say we get enough Vitamin D from the sunshine!
A year ago I came to Belize for Christmas/New Year. It was so good I promised myself I would come back! Placencia last year, Caye Caulker this. I have not been disappointed! Just a bit before Christmas this year, for my birthday! It has a '0' at the end so had to be special!
A Thanksgiving dinner was the last thing I was expecting when I first came out to Caye Caulker, however, there’s a huge community of American ex-pats on the island and the idea of this national holiday passing them by without any celebration would have been unthinkable.
I always find that the best way to integrate yourself with the local community is to embrace the culture as much as possible, and nothing is more culturally significant in Belize than Garifuna Settlement Day (November 19th).

Here in Belize there has been a campaign running in the last few years to ‘Say No to Offshore Drilling’, but unfortunately the government wasn't listening and this week on the 19th of October a company that conducts seismic testing had a ship enter Belize’s waters and begin testing.
On the Frontier Belize project we do not work alone, although we have many friends and local partners who help with our conservation work the two main organisations working alongside us are the Belize Department of Fisheries and the Forest and Marine Reserves Association of Caye Caulker (FAMRACC).
